Country landscape

'The Old Schoolmaster's Cottage is gorgeous and it was the perfect location for a little writing/creativity retreat with my sister. We loved sitting out on the deck to create surrounded by so many varieties of birds, including some rosellas that had a nest in one of the trees – we even caught a glimpse of a baby poking its head out. The sound of the rushing river was lovely too. The cottage is cosy and was such a lovely space with everything we needed. We didn't want to leave!' Melissa,  October 2022

'The home is lovely and warm, clean and comfortable. We loved the feeling of history and nature. There was a pair of cute little birds living in the tree next to the verandah that kept us company. Highly recommended for a relaxing getaway! Also highly recommend Batter and dough in Gloucester for a the best sausage rolls and pastries!'  Maryjane August 2022

'We enjoyed two nights at Jennifer's place and didn't want to leave. Beds were so comfortable and the whole house a very homely and practical feel. We had a dip in the river behind the house and spent the day at 'The Steps' about 15 min drive from there. It was a $5 per person entry but the river had great access and lots of deeper areas to swim and for the kids to go through some little rapids too. It was quite hot when we were there so the ceiling fans and air con were an added bonus. But the breeze on the balcony in the evening was lovely, as was the surrounding corn fields for a view. Perfect mini family get away.'

'We had a wonderful time at your pretty, warm cottage. Surrounded by hills, near the river, quiet and private, it is a wonderful place to recharge! Barrington and Gloucester are of course picturesque and you can pop in to town to get supplies or go bush walking in this breathtaking area'

'Charming cottage in fantastic surroundings. Isolated enough to be able to wind down & enjoy the countryside yet only 6 kms from town & great coffee.  nExtra touches made the house welcoming . offers excellent amenities. The BBQ & lovely verandah was a treat. Need to stay here to enjoy the history & ambience. Beautifully located to make a base to explore the Gloucester/ Barrington region.'  Mary May 2021

'Thanks a million Jennifer, what a weekend it was simply perfect in every way.  What a spot the river and swimming hole just amazing all to ourselves, we enjoyed every minute of our stay and will definitely be returning for a getaway  for getaway thanks again' - Joanne  February 2023

'I’m just home from Barrington and I want to thank Jenny for a perfect five days away. Everything was spotless. The cottage was exactly as described and the instructions on how to get there faultless. I needed time to write and recuperate from a rather frantic year and the peace and the quiet were exactly what I was after. The cottage is beautifully renovated but the best thing was the wrap around deck. Sitting out there with a drink and some cheese and biscuits in the evening was heaven because the view stretched for miles and the birds were so lovely to watch. A family of kookaburras sat in the large gum tree directly in front of the deck and one night I even had a kangaroo hop by. And of course there’s the river. Stunning spot. And as everyone else has said, you can hear it from the house, a sound very soothing. I saw not another person all week which is exactly what I wanted. But there is a good Woolies at Gloucester - 10 mins away - and cafes also Thank you Jenny! 💯💯💯💯 ' - Susan  December 2022

'Easy to find, this beautiful cottage with its fantastic verandah was a wonderful place for us to relax and unwind.' -  Lynne May 2021

'Beautiful country retreat. Jennifer is an excellent host and this is the perfect place to explore the local towns and national parks or just have short strolls down to the river. We had a great time. Lots of wildlife two any anywhere that has actual non-stick pans gets my vote!' - Mark  January 2023

;From check in to check out every thing was perfect.  Could not recommend this property more highly to anybody looking to getaway for a while' - Brett October 2020

'We absolutely loved our stay. Jennifer and Trudy were wonderful hosts sharing their local knowledge knowledge of places to visit and a bottle of bubbly to celebrate a 50th birthday! The cottage was full of charm, great artwork and we loved the combustion fire. The morning mist and listening to the birds was the highlight. We wished we could have stayed longer.'
